Check that your microphone works, see how loud it is, and record a short clip to hear exactly how you sound.
The microphone starts only when you press the button, and your browser asks for permission first.

Microphone not working?
- Bar doesn't move: check the mute switch on your headset and that the right microphone is selected in the list above.
- Permission blocked: allow the microphone from the lock icon next to the address bar.
- Windows: Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone, and allow desktop apps and your browser. Then check the input device in Sound settings.
- Sound is quiet: raise the input volume in your system sound settings, or move the mic closer to your mouth.
What sounds good?
For calls and streaming, normal speech should fill about half to three quarters of the bar. If you see the "too loud" warning, the sound is clipping and will crackle for listeners. Play back your recording: background hum, echo or a hollow sound usually come from room acoustics or a laptop's built-in mic.
Privacy: the sound is processed only in your browser. The 5-second recording stays on your device and is deleted when you leave this page.
