Dead pixel locator
Tap each faulty pixel on a solid color screen to record its exact position, then download a map you can attach to a warranty claim.
How to use it
- Press "Start locating". The screen fills with white.
- Switch colors with the buttons at the bottom. Dead pixels show best on white, stuck pixels on black.
- Tap or click exactly on each faulty pixel. A numbered ring marks it. Use ⇅ to move the toolbar if it covers part of the screen.
- Press "Done" to see the list, then download the map or copy the coordinates.
Using the map for a warranty claim
Defective-pixel policies vary by manufacturer, model and region, and may depend on the number, position and type of the defect. The map shows exactly how many there are and where, together with the screen resolution and the date. Attach it to your support request along with a close-up photo of the screen.
On a touchscreen, your fingertip covers many pixels, so zoom in on the spot with your eyes and tap the center of it. A mouse gives the most precise result. Found a stuck pixel? Try our stuck pixel fix guide.
